History

Syntrus Achmea was established in 2008, but our roots trace back to companies that for many decades have been committed to ensuring an affordable and sustainable future income. Syntrus Achmea continues to build on that knowledge and experience.

2010: Strategic pension management
In 2010, Syntrus Achmea set up a new business unit: Strategic pension management. Through this business unit, we aim to provide pension funds with even better advice on all subjects discussed by the board: from risk management and governance to investment strategy and administration. This enables administrators to fully concentrate on the decision-making process.

2008: Syntrus Achmea is created
On 1 January 2008, five different business units of the Achmea Group merged to become Syntrus Achmea. The five merged business units were: PVF Achmea, Interpolis Pensions, Achmea Property, Interpolis Property and Interpolis Pension Asset Management. The new name, Syntrus, is a combination of the core values 'together' (synergy) and 'trust'.

2005: Achmea and Interpolis merge
The year 2005 saw the merger of PVF Achmea and Interpolis Pensions, which in their turn originated from other pension companies. This new combination created the largest real estate investor in the Netherlands, and it also tends to the administration of about half of all Dutch pension participants.

Syntrus Achmea continues to build on the knowledge and experience gained by the forerunners of our company since the start of the 19th century. More information about those early days can be found on the Achmea website: www.achmea.nl.
